Strong southerly winds raced the Silverton north two and a half miles overnight, cutting the wake of Captain Stubborn and leaving him over a mile to her south! The Captain carefully studied his chartwork...

"Hmm...they'll be nae silvers buyin' in Sherubrub thes time! Th' hauld cycle is back ta' stay a while. Times tae pull th' crew back... Ahh'm growin' wabbit ay th' bay ay Sherubrub anyways!"-Keptin

[Last time...]

Ickied waved off from the starboard rail as the boat pulled out into open sea. He wasn’t sure if it was the galley’s ‘bevvy and scran’ or an ill omen that had his stomach tied in knots…

[On the shore of Sherubrub…]

The night had been a busy one for the crew. It was a quarter past midnight when Junior Petty Officer- Boatswain's Mate Errislravenhill spotted the longboat coming in through the breakers. It was a dangerous landing in the dark of night, and more than once the boat nearly capsized in the surf.

With all crew safely on shore, Commander Galligan ordered them to load-up the six powder barrels and head back to the Silverton. There would be no grog nor dance for the men of the second longboat as they dutifully rowed back out into the moonlit sea and soon disappeared into the sea.

Morning brought a bright, hot sun and the men were stiff from sleeping on the beach. Galligan stoked a fire and sat on a log while the coffee brewed. Errislravenhill combed her hair with fish bone comb while Seaman- Quarter Gunner Tokjockey and Seaman Able Seaman Luesniper munched on a plain. It was then that the fluttering of wings directly over Errislravenhill startled them all…

“Cat’s tails!” She blurted, dropping her comb in the sand, “Diz he always hav tae sneak in like thes!"

“Haw! Haw! Auld Groober isnae one who’s big oan warnings!" Galligan joked as he removed the bird’s poke.

The message was short and sweet,

‘Dears Commander,
It's nae likely noo 'att we'll be gettin' a new Buy Cycle in Sherubrub! Th' chart lines ur shiftin'. Pack it in an' heed fur th' Silverton!"-Keptin

“Yo-Hey!” Galligan exclaimed in high spirits, “Guid fortune mates! Th’ Keptin is pullin us back! Let's oar-up an' shove aff!"
“Thenk Gawd!” Errislravenhill replied as she jumped to her feet and dusted the sand off her pants.

Twenty minutes later found the crew a quarter mile north of shore and pulling hard. The dusty village of Sherubrub grew smaller by the minute. With mixed feelings about the visit, Galligan looked over his shoulder one last time. A small group of villagers were waving goodbye in the distance, and one in particular stoof out in a long flowing white gown…

[On the Silverton…]

Seaman- Quarter Gunner Ergino, Seaman- Carpenter's Crew Andofzara, Seaman- Ordinary Seaman Yzashu and Boys Ozn4ukhlytriwc, Scorphat, Ukiland and Onger clamored over the rail of the Silverton. Exhausted from a full round-trip pull to Socotra and back, they hastily made their way down the galley stairs and headed for their bunks!

Meanwhile, Warrant Officer- Purser Ickied oversaw the unloading of the powder barrels as Seaman- Ordinary Seamen Upu and At-Elvis and Seaman- Landsmen Ehta and Eforucom carefully secured and hoisted the barrels up onto the main deck.

“Cannie wi' those mates! There's enaw powder in one ay them tae tak' us aw tae Davy Jone's Locker!" Ickied warned.

“Yo! Ho!” Seaman Ordinary Seaman Tuna called out from the nest above, “Longboat comin’-in fest from the south!”

“Wussat?! Th’ second longboat?!” The Captain yelled up.
“Aye Sairrr! A half mile south and comin’ fest!”
“Braw as silver snails! Cockpit Mate- Fisky! Have the crew prepare to hoist anchor!”
“Aye, aye Sairrr!”

The Captain eyed the coast of Sherubrub with his long scope. An expression of fond reminiscence marked his face. Finally lowering the scope, he headed back up to the bridge…
