Amazing that it comes back every 4 years after making it's rounds throughout the world. I too was amazed as the Stanley Cup Trophy for US NHL Hockey goes to each player for one day, accompanied by security of course. I could only imagine the security detail for this trophy, lets say making it's tour through Nigeria.........Just saying.......Thanks for posting
That's right, they hang onto it for four years. That's crazy. I imagine they have it in a high-security vault most of the time and then just bring out a replica when they need to bring it out.
I didn't realize the Stanley Cup went to each player for a day. That seems like it would be cool, but a lot of pressure. What if you have to take your kids to school that day? What if you're sick? That would suck. Although overall, it would be fun to have that experience.
The Stanley Cup has been to many places and unusual situations, here is a great moment.
Ha ha, that's funny. I don't think many of the other sports trophies make it to the top of mountains. What a fun way to get extra publicity for the sport! The trophy isn't that expensive if it's made out of Sterling Silver, so more sports should do something similar. It would definitely make things more interesting as they tried to top each other for the stunt they were going to pull. ;)
Including the player drinking champagne out of it, including dogs drinking water. Surprised it is not dented.
I'm surprised that players drink champagne out of it if a dog has been drinking water out of it. I don't think I would want to put my mouth on that. Likewise surprised that it's not dented... or maybe it was dented, but they buffed it out.
