A part of my Mene jewellery collection and its golden return...

When most people think about stacking gold, they picture bullion bars, sovereigns, or maybe a monster box of silver coins tucked away in a safe. But a big part of my precious metals journey has come in a more wearable form—through my collection of Mene jewellery.

Years ago, I came across Mene, thanks to @goldmatters, and was instantly drawn in. For those who haven’t heard of them, they create jewellery crafted from pure 24k gold and platinum—no alloys, no fluff, just real precious metal that’s sold by weight and purity. The concept was simple and brilliant: turn gold into wearable wealth. And as someone who already had one foot in the world of stacking, it felt like a no-brainer.

My star sign

I started slowly, picking out pieces I thought Mrs Welshstacker might wear—elegant gold chains, bracelets, and some beautifully made charms in both gold and platinum. I added little touches of personal meaning too: gold letters and numbers that marked milestones, initials, or dates. Charms that sparked memories. Each one chosen carefully, with a future story in mind.

Now, in full honesty, Mrs Welshstacker isn't all that into jewellery. The idea of her wearing it daily didn’t quite pan out—but strangely, that made the collection even more special. Because as the pieces sat safely stored away, the price of gold climbed. And now, years later, some of those pieces have seen a return of over 180%. Not bad for something I once bought thinking, “this would look nice at dinner.”

But even more valuable than the ROI is what’s happened more recently—my kids have started eyeing them up! Each of them already knows which charm or bracelet they want one day. Not because it’s worth a fortune (although that certainly doesn’t hurt), but because they recognise the meaning behind it.
