Hi Terry, I think the authorities are a lot less concerned with private collectors than they are with dealers. I've never heard of Australia taking an action against a collector. I have several long-time clients in Australia and meteorites flow both ways in the mail between us. We have never encountered a hitch with customs on either the US end or Australian end. Of course, I am careful to source my Australian meteorites from dealers outside Australia - this avoids the necessity of paperwork and customs issues. Terry, as a private collector, you don't have any worries - unless you decide to export Australian meteorites like Henbury, Camel Donga, etc. In that case, you would need export permits. But, you can buy or sell any non-Australian meteorite without hassles. When in doubt, just shoot me a message and ask.
