Hi guys welcome to my food vlog this week, today I'm going to be showing you how to prepare plantain porridge with chicken.
It's a very delicious and nutritious meal that is easy to prepare for either breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on how you want it done
Basically, Plantain porridge which is also known as porridge plantain, egome or ukom in some regions is a meals which is rich, flavorful, and deeply nourishing. It's especially loved in many West African cultures for both its comforting taste and numerous nutritional value. I and my family we love it so much that we include it in our food menu.
Although plantain is very expensive now, we need it in our meal plan as it helps us in different ways to grow.
Porridge plantain a delicious meal
Plantain has a lot of health benefits let's look at some of it before we go into the recipe.
Benefits of Plantain
Rich in Nutrients; it has high content of some necessary Vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin C, and B-complex vitamins like B6.
Plantain is a good source of potassium, magnesium, and iron. And it helps to regulate blood pressure and aids in health health.
- As a dietary fiber, it support digestion, it has high content of fiber which helps digestive system.
- The resistant starch present in unripe plantains helps manage blood sugar levels effectively this, they are good for diabetic patient.
- It also helps in boosting immune system by fighting infection with the present of vitamin C and antioxidants.

Hi guys let's do this
I peeled my plantain and get other ingredients ready for the cooking to begin.
Ingredients used
- Plantain
- Chicken
- Crayfish
- Pepper
- Fish
- Onions
- Ugu and curry leaf
- Seasoning
- Spices
- Salt
- Palm oil

First, I chopped the plantain into smaller size, add it to the pot, add water and put it on fire to cook till soft.
As it was cooking, I added the chicken to the plantain and then spice it up
I added some some spices and seasoning to the chicken so it makes it tasty
I added onions and cover the pot to simmer for some minute till the chicken and the plantain is cooked.
I opened the pot, tasted it to confirm the seasoning is okay then I added my red palm oil to the pot, I cover the pot and allow it to simmer
After 3 minutes, I added the lead to it and stir till it is evenly distributed and my porridge plantain was done.

It was really delicious that we finish it.
Majority have their own recipe of this porridge it could be the size of cutting, the ingredients used or their method of preparation but all the same we enjoyed this easy to prepare recipe of mine.
