Cooking vlog 14|| Ogbono Soup Recipe
Hi guys welcome to my cookingvlog
Bitter leaf is one of our traditional cuisine that is mostly cooked in my region and so I decided to make this recipe for my family to have a test of it.
You know me I don't always cook the common recipe I cook something different, I like it when I explore different ingredients in cooking the flavour the test the aroma anything it is giving I enjoy it so much and that's the reason I like cooking something different from what people do.
In all my food vlogging, you will always see something different from what you cook in your kitchen. I mean yeah, that's me that makes me different, that makes my food special and I advise if you live around me always stop by my kitchen to have a taste of my African recipe.
In this week recipe what makes it outstanding is the addition of ogbono in melon, waterleaf and bitterleaf. It's not something that is common but just me if you want to cook it you really enjoy this recipe the flavour they ogbono give to the soup is really giving
Ingredients
- Bitter leaf
- Waterleaf
- Melon
- Ogbono
- Crayfish
- Fish
- Cowskin
- Chicken
- Clamps
- Periwinkle
- Pepper
- Onions
- Seasoning cubes
- Salt
Let's prepare it together, bitter leaf as the name implies is a very bitter leaf, so to achieve a good test of it you need to wash the bitterness of it. So I carefully chop the leaf then using water I wash it several times and see if the water out till the leaf bitterness was off.
To enjoy the meal don't wash all the bitterness of a little of it makes it very nice.
Seasoned the chicken and it's ready to be steamed
So after seasoning my chicken, I added crayfish and pepper
Added clamps
Added cow skin
Added periwinkle
Added fish
I added oil and allow it to simmer
That's my soup steaming after adding oil
I added ogbono for the soup as well and it was really nice.
I added melon and stir consistently to avoid it getting burnt till it was done then I proceeded to add another ingredient.
I added waterleaf and allow it to simmer for 3 minutes, by this time, the waterleaf has already added more water to the soup.
I added bitterleaf lastly and I stir it then my soup was ready.

The joy you feel when you are complete a pot of soup world cooked and refrigerated for the week, it's really amazing because at this point you know you have food in the house and then you have some rest. But my family the like eating so even with this cooking I'll still need to run some small small dishes in the house. But then I was satisfied because I knew I have a delicious meal at home.

This soup was really nice, it's looks appetizing as well. Aside from the taste, it has a lot of health benefits, the leaf contains vitamins, post immune system has anti-inflammatory properties, contains minerals like calcium which helps in bone formation, it's best immune system and regulate blood sugar level in the body.
So it is a healthy leaf to consume but it should be in moderate portion, to live like this is is recommended that we should add it to our meal for a healthy living.
I'm talking about how affordable this food is it is very affordable forget the fact that I'm making a large portion of it for my family of five to consume in a week, you can actually create this recipe using a minimum amount of money depending on the quantity of things that you need to achieve this food but I can assure you that it is very affordable.
Thank you so much for going through my recipe and remember that I help you explore other recipes that you can cook for your family at affordable prices.
