It can be difficult to explain steemit to people who don't know about blockchain and cryptocurrency. They will often suspect a scam, but I can show that I have managed to earn something here. Steemit has bought me a guitar and paid for my trip to Steemfest. That said, it took me months to earn anything. You have to build a following by engaging with people.
