RE: In The Dreaming: Chapter Twenty "The Faith of a Child" (Fantasy Y/A Novel)
I agree with you that there should be more of a strangeness, so no I don't think that's too crass, besides I have thick skin, I can take criticism, especially if it's constructive;)
Feel free to be any 'me' you wish here :)
What you said, it gave birth to a silly short story. Here it is:
Emrxist stared down at me with a puzzled look. "Why would you want to go there?"
I did not know how it was that he stood by me, why he was with me. But then, it was not something chosen by I, but by him - and who understands wizards? I'm told even wizards do not.
"I don't know, it's just natural to want to go home."
"You are certain you want to go home?"
"Yes."
"If you wish, fine, then let us go."
"What? Er, I mean, which home is fine with you, yours or mine?"
"Home. I said home, since you wish it. Let us go!"
With that he walked off in the wrong direction. He did not turn around to see whether I am following, so I turned towards home and walked off.
So, it was like a thousand years later (okay, fine, maybe more like ten - or should it be, less like ten?) I learnt that the wizards have created a place called Home. It is something I do not understand about wizards, why do they always alter rules? Is it because they live in a different world? To me, home is not a place, it is something which nestles in hearts. That is all.
Still, I hope I meet another wizard before I die; being with one creates a feeling of otherworldliness, of being touched by strangeness and it can fill the mind with the sparkling energy of life.
