For us children, there were nannies to take care of us, so that our parents had real vacations.

sounds like you had a good life - lucky you
except for when you don't need one
and lucky parents .. my Mom and dad had to send us away to get some time for themselves or bribe us :D
we had help but no nannies.. very expensive
