RE: The Transformation of 'Murica
Very sad and accurate picture. I don't know if your country is now more divided, could be that differences are amplified by very vocal extremists on both sides who take advantage of social media. However, that's not the biggest problem - the way I see it getting involved and voting is pretty much useless as long as there are only two options. Both parties are part of the same system and the differences are purely cosmetic. The American public is constantly dragged into meaningless dramas, fueled by fiery rhetoric and in the meantime big corporations make loads of money and come up with new plans to screw the people over. Even if some decent guy made his way on the political stage he wouldn't stand a chance if he didn't learn how things works. All the problems you mentioned - military budget, healthcare, education - these are and will remain the same no matter who's in charge. Trump signed a law to increase military spending, just like Obama before him and whoever comes next will do the same. College costs just as much under Republicans as under Democrats. Not much hope I'm afraid as long as the system remains in place.
The two parties, in many ways, are opposite sides of the same coin. The 2016 Presidential election was proof enough of that. It all seems like theatrics devised to distract us from what is really going on. You are 100% correct, a viable third party backed by deep-pocketed supporters is the only way out of this mess without starting from scratch. Thanks, @ladyrebecca!
