SLC26-W1 | Street Business Diaries: Street Food and Snacks
Greetings
I am Muhammad Ahmad from Pakistan
Welcome to my post, my dear friends. How's everything going? I hope that you all will be fine and enjoying your lives. I am also fine and good. Alhumdullilah
- This Post is about street business dairy. I tell you how this works, what is beneficial, what things are necessary for it, how this grows, etc. For this purpose, I need to go to the market at a little distance from our home and introduce the owner and proprietor of the stall/shop. Here in below, I will discuss my visit and introductions with details, stay with, and best wishes. The visit starts by going to the market with full planning. In a few minutes I will reach there. There are different street business stalls, but I have to choose one, then I choose the business of samosa Chaat, that's how it works.
- Let's enter into it here first. I have a great greeting with the proprietor and then ordered for one plate of samosa Chaat of 80 pkr, almost 2 steams. It is very delicious and too spicy, as I said to it make it spicy, so he makes it hard but taste good.
- Let's see how it makes the samosa Chaat, or say, what's the recipe for it. For this, I take permission from the proprietor, who happily allows me to take pictures and anything to know or want, and I thank him. Here the recipe, first he hardly breakdown the samosa in utensil then add some chatni, different masalas like red chili masala, salt, chatni masala also know as katae( local language ), add Chickpeas to this chat, then mix it well, when finally it was prepared at this stage at last he again garnish some chatni over samosa Chaat. Know this samosa Chaat was ready, having a delicious taste.
- At the side of this he also sell only samosas at 20 pkr almost 0.5 steem( each ). And also sell pakoras which is another popular dish of south-east Asia, this amazing dish have also some varieties, these two are much popular i•e potato pakoras and onion pakoras. I have discuss onion pakoras, this pakoras was made with little struggling, it's recipe is some like this take corn flour add water to need then add chopped onion and potato and chili and mix it well, after this done take it in the spoon or hand and put in the boiling oil to make some irregular oval shape pakoras, then fry it untill it was fried or become dark brown, you must be stay conscious not to burn it.
Interview of the Shopkeeper:
⭐ I also took the interview of the owner/manager of the street shop, that what the method and asking different questions. Here are some questions that I asked, and he gave answers. So let's see what he says. Also one other thing I would like to clear is that I was going to record the interview in my mobile but their were alot of people and I cant take a whole interview in the mobile, thats why I have just recorded a small clip of the Street ood siitting area and the stole.
Q1 : From how much time you doing this business or how much you experienced?
⭐ As I listen his answer I was shocked, he tells I am running/doing this business for 25 years, then I said Wow it's great.
Q2 : Then why you don't extend your business?
⭐ He contentfully answer to my question that this is much enough for me to spend good life byside this this is the local market only I sell things to the local people and they also know me very well for my taste and hospitality, here the outsiders can't come as this market is in country side.
I was also satisfy with his answer.
Q3 : Is there is any difficulty in your business/work?
⭐ well there is little hard at the start of day because almost half of the day was spend in making and preparing items like boiling potatoes for samosa, making flour for samosas, also making paste for pakoras and boiling chickpeas etc. And in the second time from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm it was not hard only making Chaat from prepared ingredients and selling another items.
Here I also satisfied with him.
Q4 : from where you bring the items for preparetion and on which method you ordererd items?
⭐ I brings best quality things which are beneficial for health and stomach to avoid food poison and promote good quality. I ordered things on the stack to stack from near or far. And also I noticed even samll thing in making Chaat or pakoras etc. that's why people love it.
Q5: how the sell position, things are sell well?
⭐ Yes, why not most of the people Knows me and my shop and also know opening and closing times so the try to reach here, almost all the items are selled which I prepared.
Q6 : How much money he make per day?
⭐ He makes almost 3 to 5 thousand pkr average, this is maybe not an exact figure. And this amount fulfills his needs well, and with the blessing of Allah(God), it's enough for him. These is all the answers to those questions which I asked, then I took permission from him to go back home after doing some other work.
What kind of street food is available in your city or area? |
---|
- In my area, there are a lot of Food Streets available, but I am discussing some of them.
📍 Samosa Chaat or spicy foods: This is the shop of spicy foods like samosa Chaat, pakoras, etc, which I also described above with details.
📍 Milkshake shop: Here's also a milkshake shop available
📍 Sweat shop: We are also buying things from a sweat shop that is present in our area.
📍 Rice shop/stale: In the morning, from 6 to 10 am, there's also an open rice shop, which was much loved by local people, especially children.
Have you eaten these foods yourself? Show their taste and price in pictures+videos. |
---|
📍 Yes, I taste different foods several times when I go there, it taste was amazing, and there was always a rush in the shops, people try to get there as soon as possible because before things are finished. I also drink milkshake sometimes, not so much, but it also has a beautiful taste as ice-cream is in the shake, which doubles the taste. I also sometimes go to the sweet shop as dessert after a meal, it sells good quality sweets from Aamir Bakery, which have a mind-blowing taste.

What did you learn about the shopkeeper's struggle? |
---|
📍 I learn very well the lesson of continuous struggling and consistency, as he has been running this shop for 25 years, as you can imagine, his struggles and consistency. Similarly, if I struggle in the same way as he does in my own field, then imagine how I rise in my life. So, be struggling with consistency and be fully devoted to your field. Thanks.
What do you think about the importance of these small street food businesses in our society? |
---|
📍 I think these small street businesses have a very important role in our lives because in any emergency situation or when there is no one at home, you can beat your hunger by going to street shops. It also has, sometimes, great gathering areas for a society. If your friends come to your home, to can bring them to the nearby street shops and have a good party, etc.
