It's interesting to think about planting these by throwing seeds from an airplane. That's a different scale of gardening, lol!
I know a relative of this plant - the Autumn Olive (Elaeagnus umbellata). It was planted as a windbreak and wildlife cover where I grew up in Kansas, on the prairie. But it got more invasive than people counted on. I like eating the little fruits after they have been hit by frost. We made jelly from them, too.
