Tariff Threats and Trade Wars

The Trump administration has continued to be a major disruptor in global trade.

New 17% tariffs have been imposed on fresh Mexican tomatoes, and threats of 30% tariffs on the EU, Mexico, and Canada have been made, particularly for fentanyl smuggling from the latter two. These actions are causing uncertainty in global markets.

President Trump has also threatened tariffs targeting Russia if a deal on Ukraine isn't reached within 50 days, stating he is "very unhappy" with Russia.

Despite these threats, Nvidia has reportedly been allowed by the Trump administration to sell its advanced H20 computer chips (used for AI) to China, a reversal of previous policy.
