Have an iKealogy bite at IKEA® Café

First of all, let me clarify this is NOT a franchise chain stall, atleast not internationally. I weren't know if it was underwent any licensing franchise directly related with IKEA® , but since they've been using the trademark since 1st May in 2018, I'm just going to assume they're licensed or directly owned by IKEA®.

Unexpected surprise

First of all, I wasn't expect to spend anything in this shop initially. I've seen this café for a year now, but I never bother to crash in at any circumstances. Mainly due to what I think:

  • Not many of food that suitable for whole family
  • Not for proper meal
  • Not at affordable price
  • Not friendly
  • Not enough space for family to sit in
And obviously, I was wrong about all that after I saw the above. A big shout out to @redpalestino my favorite Durian buddy. Read on, I did not order any other food, other than the Durian Frappe.

Menu

Seriously, people who go to IKEA mainly for 1 reason, to buy bulky furniture. Even if you buy something not bulky, like a small office chair, you would't wanna carry that package hangout at the cafe. Fortunately, this is not the case. If the package is not taller than the entrance, you can find yourself conveniently order your food because the menu has been conveniently hanged right infront of the counter! However, not for someone like me who have 2 young children besides, a handful of carrying bags, to take out the phone and start snapping the whole menu. This is as much as I can show you for now. Who knows, next month I will be bringing the entire family for another visit and make a full comprehensive review on this one!

Sandwiches

In the cake range, came with precooked pie, sandwiches. If you think they're gonna cost a bomb, seriosuly this pricing tells me they're much more friendlier than majority of the café I've visited around Kuala Lumpur/ Petaling Jaya! Probably one of the most competitive price I've seen in recent 10 years! I haven't get to try any of these, but next bucket list is definitely the pie and the sandwich!

Cakes

@redpalestino I know you're staring at the most right corner of the cake range. I'm sorry to say, I did not try that piece of Durian cake. I'm actually more than attracted by the carrot cake on the left hand side. Again, take a look at the pricing! Oh man?! Who the heck still sell cakes withint 10 bucks range?! This is definitely a market spoiler! But I love them. This is no wonder why they always full house!

Bread and pastry

The smell of the bun gradually emit through the atmosphere. If you're a bread person, you would wanna grab as much as you can. Once again, take a look at the price tag, you wouldn't even believe with your own eyes. Rub your spec and see it again, it's really cool to have someone who have passion in making their food affordable and I'm sure more people like myself would wanted to visit this place more often.

Environment

Honestly, IKEA® has always been designing concept living, creative, space saving, convenient kind of lifestyle furniture. This is no different. The way the entire café designed is what an IKEA® designer would(I think, but I'm no designer and I'm suck at it TBH). The environment is slightly warmish to my liking, but not to an extend of sweating. I think it's just nice to most Malaysian as people around here would take anything below 24'C as "cold". Despite I felt slightly warmer, but I seen people with their scarf on, happily sitting at the corner enjoying their coffee and reading.

A Legend

Here is the legendary Musang King beverage. I hesitated to use the F word as in the menu, but I think the recipe and the name was trademarked to one of the well known international franchise? I'm not going to argue about it, all I care is the drink. The creaminess and the yumminess of the beverage I'm about to push into my mouth. To highlight IKEA® Café is using degradable straw(made out of paper I believe). The moment I push the straw in, instantly the fresh cream start squirting out from the top of the dome lid! The significant Musang King durian smell blast out and I almost peed my pants! As I took the first sip... damn the degradable straw does very little in helping to suck in the beverage. I don't know if they did that on purpose, but trying to suck harder makes my brain kinda dizzy for a moment, as the ice crushed durian drink start going down my throat, the smell once again hitting my nose and it signal me something serious is happening. My glen started to lose control and my tear duck start squirting liquid, almost did not roll down manly tear tasting such crazy brain freeze moment with durian smell blasting my nerves. If you're a durian lover, don't miss this opportunity because this menu only available until end of July in 2019. Anytime soon if you're wondering if they will reintroduce this menu? I don't know, may be may be not. Even if they do, will be the next Durian season.

Summary

I don't have anymore photo for this visit, partly because we already had lunch, another thing is I have a handful without another adult helping me to take care of those two little rascals and the purchased goods. We only manage to grab a drink and share it, but the smell, what we saw, what we feel, is suffice to set my next course of action - to schedule for a revisit with assistance of my ex-girlfriend. Who knows, need to give Red a call for a quick visit(and if he's free). It is suffice to said, I don't care even if that place is constantly having heavy traffic and lack of parking space, but it's worthy just for grabbing a quick bite here, in IKEA® Café.
