This Islamic boarding school is located in Gampong Doi, Ulee Kareng District, Banda Aceh. This Islamic boarding school is one of the favorite Islamic boarding schools in Aceh Province. This can be seen from the many students who come from outside the region to study here.

I know because I hang out with the parents of the students. My child also goes to school here. He is still in the Tsanawiyah (MTs) level. Some of his friends come from Sabang, Aceh Jaya, Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, and East Aceh.

For me, this is an indicator that this Islamic boarding school is a favorite of many parents in Aceh. In this Islamic boarding school there are only two levels, namely the Tsanawiyah and Aliyah levels. There is no madrasah level yet.

History

The Babun Najah Modern Islamic Boarding School was founded on the noble spirit of three Acehnese figures who cared about the future of the Islamic generation, namely H. Rusli Bintang, a successful businessman; Drs. Tgk. H. Muhammad Ismy, Lc., MA, a charismatic cleric known as Abu Madinah; and Drs. H. M. Saleh, a community leader from Ulee Kareng. The three agreed to establish an Islamic educational institution that not only studied religious knowledge, but also provided general insight and life skills to the students.

This ideal was realized through the Babun Najah Islamic Education Foundation (YPI) which officially established this Islamic boarding school on April 28, 1994. Shortly thereafter, precisely on July 5, 1994, Babun Najah was inaugurated by Mrs. Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana (Mbak Tutut), daughter of President Soeharto, which marked the first step of this Islamic boarding school to become a center of modern Islamic education in Banda Aceh.

Initially, Babun Najah's facilities were very simple. There were only two permanent houses for the ustadz, a small dormitory with five rooms, and a makeshift thatched-roof classroom that was used for eight years. However, with determination and hard work, this Islamic boarding school slowly grew, adapting to the times without abandoning the roots of Islamic tradition.

Now, Babun Najah stands firmly in Doy Village, Ulee Kareng, as a modern Islamic boarding school that combines the curriculum of the Ministry of Religion with the Islamic boarding school education system. This institution consistently produces young generations who are noble, knowledgeable, and ready to contribute to religion, nation, and society.

The history of Babun Najah is not just the story of the establishment of an educational institution, but also a reflection of the strong vision and sincerity of its founders in building civilization through knowledge and faith.

In the Babun Najah Islamic Boarding School complex, there are many buildings designated for student dormitories. Entry is only for male student dormitories. Meanwhile, the female student dormitory cannot be accessed by just anyone. Including parents of students.

This four-story building is partly used for study rooms, while the ground floor is for a prayer room, while the large yard is used for parking vehicles for parents of students. Behind this building there are several other buildings specifically designated for female students.

Visiting Schedule

As the school operates as a boarding school, parents can visit their children on Thursdays and Sundays each week.

To call the name of a student whose parents are visiting, you can go to the information post near the entrance to the dormitory complex.

Prayer room

This is a place of prayer for students. When parents visit, this place is also used by visitors to worship. In front of it there is a water tap for ablution.

I was near the information boards available around the management office and the main building of Babun Najah. These information boards contain directions, instructions for cleanliness, and other general information.
