RE: Freedom Day - 27 April 1994 to 27 April 2018 - 24 years of Democracy in South Africa - Still a long way to go.
I appreciate you sharing a little on South Africa. I’m not a world news person, but last check, those in charge were failing the people. I was horrified by the lack of forward planning re the recent water shortages. I was shocked by how a South African I recently met at work had little good to say politically. It’s a sad situation as far as all the reports I hear.
I’d love to visit South Africa one day, it’s a shame it doesn’t feel safe enough. :(
The water shortage in the Cape is terrible, and has been going on for a long while. They're coming ubto the rainy season now, so hopefully they get enough to fill their reserves.
South Africa is a beautiful place to visit. It's not all a war zone, and you can move around relatively easy without putting yourself in danger. Going in a group and seeing the country is still pretty safe if you go to the right places.
Some of the stories I hear are terrible, and if I visit, I want to be able to roam freely and immerse in the culture. I’ve never been a tour group person and would immediately discount destinations that forces that requirement. But I’ll consider it. It might be the only way I can visit!
