RE: Why I am not posting much at the moment?

Found the same thing, mine is mid-2018 (first quad-core model) but still has the same problem. On most other laptops a cable like this could be replaced cheaply, but MacBooks are so bad to repair that they needed to replace the whole upper part. I bought it in Taiwan and am now in Thailand, I though buying in Taiwan directly from Apple using the student discount while I was studying there was a good deal, but apparently customer service like it is offered by Amazon in Europe where they would even replace your laptop after the warranty expired is not a thing that Apple does since they want you to spend hundreds of dollars on Apple care..

That really sucks! I’m pretty sure they would have not helped me in Germany. Still wondering why they’re like that in Australia. As said, they were so friendly and now even going to replace more then what I’ve asked for. Anyway I’m also thinking of selling it as long as it is working. Still regret that I’ve sold my late 2011 MacBook Pro.

Short update in case you’re interested. Apple called me and told me it’s not the display this time but the logic board. Means I also have to pay 640$ for a new logic board now. That actually changes my mood a lot. Anyway can’t do anything about it.

Edit: I just learned today that Apple Australia has a 3 year Australia wide warranty and not only one year like most other countries.

Oh, that sucks.. Meanwhile, my newly replaced display has issues again (pixels going black at the bottom of the screen) and my macbook is back in the repair shop. Apple has some serious quality issues!

Seems like mine is a never ending story. Hope yours is not the same. I now have a new screen, new upper case with keyboard and battery and a new logic board. Still, sometimes when I open the screen, it takes a few seconds until I see my desktop or I have the famous Ameisenfussball for a second. It´s a Joke!
