Correction: Alberto Santos-Dumont saw AIRPLANES doing battle and committed suicide. Not AIRSHIPS. He was also the designer of the main airplane style still in use globally: Large front wing, front propeller, small tail wing and vertical stabilizer. And he also pretty much completely redesigned the internal combustion engine as well. Amazing man.
