in The Creative Pulse3 days ago

Greetings my dear Steemit family! 🌸

I'm really happy to join Steemit Learning Challenge Season 26 Week 4. Pottery is commodity that consistently inspires me because it gives us a chance to produce beauty with our own hands. This week, I worked on a Plaster of Paris Key Rack for my home décor.

Materials I Used

½ kg Plaster of Paris

Water( as needed)

Flat plastic mold

Small bowl & spatula

Oil for greasing mold

Two small sticks( for holes)

Acrylic paints( orange, yellow, black, green, brown)

Rope and 3 small hooks

Glue gun

Step 1 Mold Preparation

I first lubricated the mold with oil so that the POP would not adhere to it. A flat mold was stylish because I claimed a strong and prim base for my key rack.

Step 2 Mixing the POP

I precisely mixed POP powder with water in a bowl applying a spatula. I wearied a mask because POP creates dirt. After mixing, I got a svelte and slightly watery paste.

Step 3 Pouring & Drying

I streamed the admixture into the mold and gently tapped it to peel air bubbles. Then, I fitted two sticks to form holes for swinging. I left it for 2 hours to dry fully.

Step 4 Demolding & Painting

After drying, I peeled it fluently from the mold. The holes were grand for slinging rope. Now neared my beloved part — painting! 🎨

I painted a evening scene with orange, yellow, and brown tones. I similarly added small palm trees and birds for a natural expression.

Eventually, I fastened three hooks with glue and reached a rope through the holes to hang it.

My handmade Plaster of Paris Key Rack looked various, sinewy, and applicable for home décor. It trotted out me genuine blissfulness to see commodity practical made with my own hands.
