For this week’s task, I tried making a simple yet useful key rack out of plaster of Paris( POP). Actually, it was a fully new expertise for me, but the step- by- step companion supported me a lot to complete my design successfully.

My Project Key Rack from Plaster of Paris

Materials I Used

Plaster of Paris – ½ kg

Water( as needed)

Plastic mold( flat base style)

Mixing bowl & spatula

Small sticks( for hanging holes)

Acrylic paints & brushes

Rope & glue gun

A little oil for greasing mold

Step 1 Mold Preparation

I smoothly greased the interior sides of my precise mold with oil painting. This formed it sophisticated and effortless to put off the plaster latterly. Since I necessitated a base for a wall- hanging crucial rack, a precise mold was complete.

Step 2 Mixing POP

I added plaster of Paris into a bowl and sluggishly streamed water while blending with a spatula. Wearing a mask was compulsory since POP gives out dirt. I mixed until it turned into a smooth, watery paste.

Then I poured the admixture precisely into the oiled mold, tapped it gently to take off air bubbles, and fitted two small sticks to produce neat holes for hanging.

Step 3 Drying & Demolding

After about 2 hours, my POP admixture dried fully. I took off the sticks and fluently demolded my piece. The flat exterior came out clean with two strong hanging holes.

Step 4 Painting & Final Touch

This was my favorite step! 🎨 I painted a bird's releasing scene using blue, yellow, orange, unheroic, and brown tones with acrylic maquillages. To enhance the beauty, I added a win wall of bricks 🧱.

Later, I glued 3 small hooks for keys and passed a string through the openings to hang the rack. The closing result offered me so much happiness – a practicable and beautiful home décor piece formed by my own hands!
