⚾ May 26, 1959 – Harvey Haddix’s 12-Inning Perfection

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Harvey Haddix threw 12 perfect innings against the Milwaukee Braves. Though the Pirates lost 1-0 in the 13th, Haddix’s effort is still considered one of the greatest pitching performances in MLB history.

🏒 May 27, 1994 – Rangers Advance to Stanley Cup Final

The New York Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils 2-1 in double overtime of Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Stéphane Matteau’s goal sent the Rangers to their first Stanley Cup Final since 1979.

⚽ May 28, 2011 – Barcelona’s Champions League Glory

Barcelona defeated Manchester United 3-1 in the UEFA Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium. Goals from Pedro, Lionel Messi, and David Villa capped off one of the most dominant seasons in European football history.

🏁 May 30, 1911 – First-Ever Indianapolis 500

The inaugural Indianapolis 500 race was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ray Harroun won the 500-mile race in 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 8 seconds, driving a Marmon Wasp — forever becoming the first Indy 500 champion.

🏏 May 30, 1999 – Shoaib Akhtar’s Lightning Spell at the World Cup

Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar bowled one of the fastest overs ever recorded at the Cricket World Cup, terrorizing the West Indies batsmen in a group stage match. His raw pace, clocking over 96 mph, left a lasting impression on cricket fans.

🏀 May 31, 1984 – Celtics Win Game 2 in OT Thriller

The Boston Celtics edged out the Los Angeles Lakers 124-121 in overtime during Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The Celtics tied the series at 1-1 and went on to win the championship in seven games.
