Arsenic Lullaby -Comics- X-mas-conspiracies-commissions
http://www.arseniclullabies.com/
...every year during the holidays we modify our website to be a refuge from the holiday joy. It's got A.L. comics, blogs, podcasts, stuff you can color...in years past I had a pretty big coloring contest...had guests on the podcast...
I'm just not in the mood this year for any of it, to be honest with you. So, I don't know how much new stuff I'll put up there or if anything I put up there this year is going to be X-mas related. I'm not depressed, I'm not excited, I've got no anxiety…I'm just not in the mood. I just want to ignore the whole thing and do some work.
Speaking of that, you have probably noticed that while I can ink two lines side by side, a hairs width apart for the length of a paper without them ever touching, I cannot hold a camera steady to save my life, Or apparently figure out how to adjust the camera to get a decent picture. Which somehow gave me this strange image of a preliminary sketch for a commission...
...It's kinda cool, right?
...what?
look...it's ten degrees outside and cabin fever has set in. I can either find amusement in the little things or see if I can drive all the way to Florida on the two gallons of gas I have in my car, because I ain't standing outside at a gas station longer than two gallons worth until I'm sure it's at least 70 degrees outside.
...most of the blogs or updates or sneak previews will probably be about an new project that is completely unrelated to the season, to my seasonal effective disorder, depression, thoughts of suicide or any of the things that come to mind as we think about the holidays.
'course all the best of stuff is there so...it's still got the tools you can use to specifically fight back against the "season of cheer".
There's no big Arsenic Lullaby merch roll out, because after a bit kickstarter fiasco I am sick to death of packing things. I...just can't. You want a nice flat print or commission? great, but nothing I have to pack into a box.
I'm…I'm just tired and sick of alla this. I'm sick of social media, I'm sick of having to be in a constant state of self promotion.
You young people out there...the internet used to be way more fun than this. There was this place called Myspace. It was sort of like Facebook but better, your page was actually a mini webpage and you could change the background and fonts and add music, everybody was being creative and having fun.
The Zuckerburg destroyed it. I don't mean overtook it, I mean he actively through slimy, secretive, mass manipulation tactics, caused the downfall of Myspace. Just...follow along with me...
Here's my conspiracy theory...
All of you old enough to remember, think back to how Myspace just seemed to become a ghost town in one week...it's referred to now as a "Myspace Moment". But I say there was no "moment", that it was corporate sabotage. We know Myspace was full of bots and fake profiles, we know Zuck is a master of understanding and manipulating algorithms, even the algorithms of others...and we know in a very brief period of time, out of the clear blue, all of a sudden on Myspace every third person was posting about leaving to go to FB. What if all those people, INITIALLY...just enough to get the snowball rolling downhill... were just fake profiles/bots under some program of Zuck's. All he'd need then was several thousand profiles that were under the radar enough that no one bothered to block them...with stagnated posting, hitting peoples feeds at the prime time for each person.
I said this years ago and it sounded loony...it doesn't sound so loony now does it? In fact, nowadays that sounds like child's play.
And remember the internet was still young then...influencing mass amounts of people was much easier. This was the era of "Grumpy Cat" ...try to wrap your head around this one Gen Z-ers...there was a time on the internet, when ONE specific cat somehow went viral and everyone knew who he was. Mind blowing right?
We know the ease with which he could have accomplished this, and that it is not just within his skill set, it IS his skill set...and we know now he is unscrupulous, and we know that he has admitted to experimenting with using algorithms to influence people moods this entire time, and we now better understand the amount of wealth and valuable data that can be had. NOW it seems absorb that a site like MySpace, founded and run people who were relatively naive and unambitious, lasted as long as it did before being kneecapped.
So yeah...that's why we are where we are. As a civilization...as a culture...(stands up on chair and raises finger into the air dramatically) the unthinking masses among us have been trained to...
Okay that's enough of that, I'm supposed to be selling comic books here. ...For about a full minute, I seriously forgot what the hell I was writing and what for and who to. That's cabin fever for ya.
...uhm...prints make a nice gift! hit me up for a commission!

I was never really into MySpace although I was blogging back then. These things come and go. I've been on several social sites that died. I'm hoping Steem does not go the same way.
I hope this crazy season is not too draining on you. Keep putting out the cool work.
I liked it a lot, it had a nice atmosphere. As for Steemit...I dunno the powers that be seem dead set on not learning a damn thing. But, I'll keep using it just because I like the people on here.
The social side of any site is important to me, especially as I am not making that much here. It has to be fun. We are seeing some progress with Steem. I know you are not impressed by Steemit, but I hope it will look better next year.
Merry Christmas and I hope you get lots of commissions! I included this post in my weekly curation Ocean of Art!
Hey thanks a lot! and I'm glad you liked it!
Upvoted, for whatever my vote is worth. Keep creating!
Thanks...for whatever my thanks is worth ;)
