High End and Low End of Bangkok Housing and the Beautiful Hearts !!
The other day i was called to a meeting which was a bit further out from the heart of Bangkok city but still in commercial business area of Bangkok. I decided after the meeting that i would walk to the nearest MRT which is the underground subway in Bangkok a distance of about 2 km's. I always like to have a look around when i am in a different area of Bangkok.
I decided to walk along the main road as been in a different area i didn't want to wonder of to much into the local area i tend to get to excited and get lost in amongst the local people who i love having a chat to but i honestly didn't have that much time as i needed to get back to the office to sign of.
Now i have seen a lot of Bangkok but it always saddest me to see people still living this way even though we are in the 20th century it's just not right that the world today is so split up in most countries now there is no middle class your either filthy rich or damn poor. That's the way it is here in Bangkok no unemployment benefit hand outs and for retired people in Thailand the government is so generous enough to give them $20 per/month (US) how nice.
These houses are found on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok that runs for many kilometers around the huge Bangkok city and are mixed in amongst 5 Star hotels and high end housing it just fascinates me how many type of real estate you will find along this massive long river but there is no shame amongst the Thai people it's normal in there cultural way they are known to be soft natured, well mannered and always willing to help each other but it still saddest me to see this.
Looking at these river houses it absolutely stuns me how they are even still standing on them rotting posts below amazing those houses haven't fallen into the river yet how could you feel safe going to sleep and maybe finding yourself swimming in that so unhygienic river even hanging the laundry out would be a worry.
But i got to be honest with you i have a couple of lady friends that actually work with us and they go home to houses like this and i am far from judgemental these people are the ones i like to be around. I once insisted i wanted to visit her home so she invited me with a bit of persuasion obviously she felt embarrassed but i told her they are only material things it's who you are inside that brightens all that up.
From the moment i walk into my lady friends house i could feel the warmth, politeness and openness and that is real comforting , i hadn't even sat down yet and the food was already coming out even though i had bought lots of food as politeness and even though they live in houses like this that are just about to collapse around them they still love to laugh and smile they are such gentle souls and easy to connect with. God bless them.

If people can make a loving, warm, welcomimg home from nothing, just imagine what they could do when given opportunity.
These extremes seem to have existed throughout societies all through time.
Of all the ugliness we have eliminated in progress not sure how these types of obvious flaws in our social structures are still accepted.
You are so right it should not be acceptable and these are the people that would make it right if given the opportunity but unfortunately they are forgotten by corrupt bureaucrats :(

I am absolutely sorry that I missed this post! This is pretty much the way my vision of Thailand has always been presented.
Please rework this and post it again. I think it deserves it!

Unfortunately yeah it does still exist but they don't show it but they all seem to live amongst themselves as a happy community is what makes you love Thailand more they don't shame each other no matter what.
I will do another post on this i am planing to go further up river to capture more of this scenery.
