I have been living in Saint-Petersburg about 16 years. It’s an amazing, beautiful, mysterious and really different city. It’s full of masterpieces of architectures, museums, great night clubs, new big modern buildings and old-fashion low houses, green gardens and different opportunities. The grey but clean and atmospheric sky, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, a lot of rains, abrupt climate changes and, of course, the beautiful breathtaking bridges make a real bright picture of Saint-Petersburg.

Architecture is just unbelievable breathtaking in Saint-Petersburg. The center of the city is full of different buildings that everyone will call the masterpiece of architecture. Many outstanding architects like Trezzini, Rastrelli or Rinaldi have built these buildings in the different centuries from 17 to 19 century. These buildings have been built in styles of baroque, classicism, modern, neo-gothic style and so on. We have new modern buildings too but the most of them are not in the center of Saint-Petersburg.

Moreover, there’re many different beautiful known and almost unknown museums in this city like Hermitage, Curiosities, the museum of religion’s history, the museum of water, Summer House of Petr 1, etc.

Saint-Petersburg is a special city because of its bridges too. It’s a real show when the bridges in the whole dark or at the sunrise are moving slowly. However, bridges give many problems at night to habitants of this city. You just can’t go to Vasilievsky island almost the whole night, for example. It’s very expensive to go to other areas too because there’s just one fur away bridge which doesn’t open its wings. The subway doesn’t work at night too.

By the way, the subway in Saint-Petersburg is just beautiful, it’s a real masterpiece. Every station was projected and made with the expenditure of much efforts and time. The ceilings are huge; the marble is everywhere. Subway in Moscow or in New-York can’t even think about comparing with the subway of this city.

People

People are undoubtedly and absolutely special in Saint-Petersburg. Yes, in this place a lot of vanity too, but that’s different vanity comparing with Moscow, for example. If you ask someone where to go, he will definitely stop and tell you where to go. If he doesn’t know the road, he will try to remember even something to help you. Some of meets like that are like a great surprise in your life.

Many people like outstanding doctors, really great teachers and the Stalin’s followers live here. Young people from different families have different aspirations from the place in Harvard to taking ten dose of MDMA one time. Sometimes one person can have both of these aspirations. We have really interesting youth. They have different styles but not subcultures any more. Goths, punks, metallists, cybergoths, rastafarians, ethnos, trancers and so on. Many of them mix and have party together. They have big flats, different art-places, cafes, clubs, forest and a lot of different places for that.

Everyone in Saint-Petersburg except the people who are called «vegetables» (you can meet people like that all over the world) has its own interesting, full of adventures, achieving goals and falls, changes and moments of all kinds.

Saint-Petersburg is a great magic world so everyone will be able to find something interesting for him. You are waited by many different world-known museums like Hermitage, Curiosities, Russian museum, Marble Palace and so on. Moreover, there’re a lot of kinds of small or just not that popular museums including the museums of contemporary art and art-spaces in this city.

All kinds of cafes, clubs, pubs, bars, parties of different styles and formats make this city absolutely special. We have a lot of beautiful parks and gardens, even cemeteries are great here. We also have many kinds of theatres, opera, philharmonic and sport stadiums. We see backyards and buildings old and modern format absolutely soaked by memories. Views in Saint-Petersburg are great: Neva’s embankment, squares, views from the roofs… It’s possible to speak endless.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere is one of the most specific in the world in Saint-Petersburg. It’s breathtaking, amazing, scared and mysterious sometimes but it’s beautiful, it’s incredible. You will never find a place like that. I know many people who went to this city for two days and decided to stay here for the whole life. What’s more, I know many people who has a dream to live in Saint-Petersburg. It’s full of opportunities and hopes that can come true.
