Change is a super interesting subject, I bet @revisesociology has a word or two to say on this matter.
I remember having the below ground into a whole department at a previous workplace. You wouldn't believe the 'stress' some people were under due to a change around in seating 🤦
You should have tried subtly adjusting their chair seating positions to add that into the mix. Just enough so it's not obvious anything's changed. My favourite was to angle the the base backwards a couple of degrees.
I've had fun with that in the past. Then just kick back and watch them try to figure it out.
