If you want to understand our country's predicament, watch the debates in Parliament and look closely at the speakers on the government benches. Many of them display the worst characteristics of human nature: pettiness, bitterness, callousness and spite. Its the face of disunity

If your view of human nature is essentially that most people are naturally evil and that they must therefore live in constant fear of state-imposed punishment in order for society to function, that’s uh, that’s pretty grim.
