Long ago any town you arrived in no matter where you were you could see its steeple, now the tallest is a bank.
We sure have come a long way.
just look up at the tallest building and that's who has you by the gonads.
I may be securing my place in Hell, but the irreverent asshole in me has to point out the parallel to The Church here too (at one point, it may well have been someone in the church who had you by the gonads).

Don't ever let anyone know that it is a person in the church making the decisions and saying the book told them to do it.
