RE: The Surprising Truth About How People Spend Monero [Token Investigation 43/50]
I can see positives and negatives to Monero.. Data protection is an issue when it comes to payments, your rent example is great.
That being said, one has to weigh up the positives and the negatives. Are its illegal uses justified by the amount of privacy it offers and data protection? I think not, but I can see why some would argue yes.
From the top down (i.e. should it be allowed to be legal?) its pretty easy to make some arguments against it. But theres also the opposite view i.e. if its not already banned, what real reason is there to ban it? You could make a "guns dont kill people, people do" kind of argument for Monero as well "the currency doesn't spend itself" basically.
Personally I have no idea and I expect to see a high profile court case about it in the next 5 years.
Very good point! I have to agree with you there about court cases in the future, it's a grey area that will be looked into more in detail in the future. Great post anyway!
Illegal use of literally anything is the price for freedom and privacy in the same market.
For me, my freedom is invaluable, literally priceless, so I'm with Monero.
