Trump Accuses Left-Wing Radicals of "Demonizing" Kirk's Murder
"Demonization" of opponents, including similar rhetoric from the radical left against conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has led to "terrorism" in the United States, Trump said. He vowed to find "anyone and everyone" involved
US President Donald Trump called Charlie Kirk a “martyr for freedom and truth”** after he was shot to death during a speech at Utah Valley University. Kirk, the executive director of the right-wing conservative organization Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck and later died in hospital.
Trump praised Kirk for his role in engaging young people in politics and accused the “radical left” of demonizing opponents, which he said had led to increased political violence. He demanded an end to hate speech and promised to investigate the attack, including possible organizers and sponsors.
The president also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff across the country. A suspect in the case was arrested but later released. Kirk was 31 and had been one of Trump’s most vocal youth supporters.
