The Royal ways

Some time back I wrote about the Topkapi palace and how opulent it is. There is not a single part of this palace which you can say is ordinary, everything is extravagant and royal and you see the richness in every single thing that was used in the palace. Most of the things used in daily basis are studded with precious gems and made of gold or gold plated, such was the life then. After going through all the areas of the Palace, the final was the kitchen and the display of fine cutlery of those times. I do enjoy watching all of these and then in my own simple ways I try to bring a little bit of that grandness in my home. Thankfully these days we get everything in copies, so while they are not original brands, they give the look of it. And also, with the manufacturing growth we can get some classy looking things at affordable prices.

What I observe is that some centuries ago also there was so much class, elegance and style. We have rather gone down in all of that and possibly some of it is only for the very rich.
From the collection the most I loved is this dinner set. With this I remember one of my aunts who was very well to do and she was also a very classy woman, always fond of fine things in life, I was very young then and when I would visit her home, she would teach me all this style and elegance. I have got a lot from her, she had taught me which fork and spoon to use for what, different type of glasses to be used, dining etiquettes and all of it. I would always think that when I would have my own home, I would have these kind of dinner set ups, but that was never possible for me, as it's not practical. and my boys freak out seeing me doing all these things. They have no patience for style and eqiquettes...haha....in anyways I love them.

I believe that I have lived many past lives in different ways in which some may have been royal and some very simple ones, because I have this mix of both in me. There are times when I enjoy luxury and royalty and then there are times when I want to go very simple. Both come very naturally to me and none of it is my permanent trait. I do not crave for either one, I go with the flow of life of whatever comes to me and I see that both of them occur very naturally to me. I am for simplicity and at the same time I am not against luxury. That's me, a little complicated :-)
