Welcome to Seoul (What kind of (paper) bill you need to prepare)
Whenever anyone goes abroad, exchange is essential.
When you come to Korea, I will show you what kind of bill you need to prepare.
First of all, let's check what kinds of bills are in Korea.
In Korea, there are 4 types of bills like, 50,000 Won, 10,000 Won, 5,000 Won and 1,000 Won.
See the bills with its pictures below.
50,000 won (KRW) (Pronounce it as 'O-Man Won')
10,000 won (KRW) (Pronounce it as 'Man Won')
5,000 won (KRW) (Pronounce it as 'O-Chun Won')
1,000 won (KRW) (Pronounce it as 'Chun Won')
So, which of these should you ask for exchange?
First, at the exchange, they usually don't like to exchange money to 5,000 won or 1,000 won.
Because some of them don't like to handle small units of bills.
Anyway, so, very simply, you only need to remember this!
JUST CHOOSE (GREEN) 10,000 WON ('MAN WON')!
With one or a few of ten-thousand bills (10,000 won, 'Man Won'), you can access to most of the transportation, and you can eat in the restaurant, you can buy souvenirs at reasonable price. For example, even if you order food such as Korean famous street food, 'Tteokbokki' and 'Sundae' at the same time, the price is cheaper than 10,000 won.
So there is no reason to prepare 50,000 won bills unless you buy something that is somewhat expensive.
Because there are cases where the 50,000 won is often refuged to be changed to smaller ones.
That's it!
