Today I Learned: French Reggae is a thing! lol

Sort: ย

It is strange, but in France they only like certain artists. Jamaican artists popular in the 70's and 80's are huge in France, especially Burning Spear. We all happen to share a love Midnite/Akae Beka, and he has a small cult following in France. You might check out Akae Beka @joshman. They are from the US Virgin Islands, and the name is taken from the Ethiopian Book of Enoch, Akae and Beka are Geez words representing oaths. Akae Beka is very esoteric, and many historically educated people can't understand his lyrics. Half of his songs are about Ethiopian history.

Nice, I'll check them out.
