Greetings and welcome to my blog, I am glad to be a part of this weeks Challenge on of salads.
I love salads a lot and through this challenge I have been able to learn more salad types and I am enjoying every bit of it. This weeks edition on chickpea salad was a bit hectic as I didn’t see chick pea in this part of the world. I had to ask chat gpt for a substitute and it suggested green peas so I had to buy green peas as a substitute along side with the other vegetables needed for the salad.

Ingredients for the salad
Cooked Green peas
Cucumber
Tomatoes
Onions
Green and red bell pepper
Cooked brown beans
Parsley
Sardine fish

Procedure
Step 1: I boiled the green peas and the brown beans until they were soft.
Step 2: I washed all the vegetables with salt and sliced them into small pieces. The onions, cucumber, tomatoes, bells peppers etc. | ![]() |

Step 4: I then proceeded to add the bell peppers. | ![]() |

Step 7: I added the sardine fish and mixed them together. | ![]() |

Step 8: I prepared the dressing mix . I put olive oil in a clean plate and added vinegar and honey and salt and stirred vigorously.

Step 9: I added the dressing mixture to salad and mixed again. My salad was ready to be eaten. I allowed it to rest in the refrigerator for some minutes before serving as this helped to enhance the flavor of my salad.

This is my first time of trying chickpea salad and I must say that it exceeded my expectations. The combinations of the vegetables used in the making made it exceptional and I enjoyed every bit of it.
I loved it and I used it as a side dish to eat my jollof rice and the both was a beautiful combination. I have gotten another beautiful salad recipe that I am going to enjoy for a very long time to come. Thank you for this recipe.

It also contains anti-inflammatory properties and helps to reduce the risk of getting chronic diseases.

Yes, making chickpea salad requires some tips we must pay attention to ensure it comes out beautifully well. Those tips includes;
I ensure that the vegetable I use for the salad is very fresh so that it would give the salad great flavor. Avoid spoilt or rotten vegetables.
I should ensure that I cut my vegetables in similar sizes. Not some too big and some small. Having them cut in similar sizes will enhance the look and make it more appealing to the eyes.
Refrigerating the salad before serving it helps to enhance the salad flavor.
In a situation where I want to add cheese, I should ensure to add it just before serving to avoid it breaking down and giving the salad a milky colour.
Incase where canned vegetables like canned chickpea is used, I must endure to rinse the vegetables well.
I should also ensure that the peas are well cooked to avoid it being too hard or too soggy.
