Montagnana, one of the most beautiful walled cities in Italy
Hello fellow travelers, how are you??
I hope this summer has started well, but I see that you share many beautiful places and so a few days ago I was in a place that let's say is not that far from my house, only 30 KM, but in my opinion there is the most beautiful example of a fortified city in Italy.
I'm talking about Montagnana in the province of Padua, a medieval fortified city, freely visitable and free of charge.
It is one of the few examples of a city completely surrounded by kilometers of walls and there are more than 24 towers.
I had already talked about it here on Steemit and also on my social channels, but maybe this time I'll give you some useful information on the museums present and how much it costs to visit them.
Where is the Castello di San Zeno, in Piazza Trieste you can visit the civic museum, where you can find prehistoric and Roman finds and many Venetian ceramics that were produced here.
Opening hours:
Summer (Tue–Fri): guided tour at 11:00 one shift only
Saturday: 10:30, 11:30, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00
Sunday and holidays: 11:00, 12:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00
Winter: Saturday 10:30–17:00, Sunday/holidays 11:00–17:00; Tue–Fri one shift at 11:00
Entrance ticket costs 3.50
There are some interesting churches to visit such as the cathedral, where there are some paintings by Veronese, and they can be visited for free.
But in my opinion just walking around this city is an authentic, traditional, true experience, you can touch these monuments with your hands but in the same way you can realize how everyday life goes on there.
Remember that there are many local shops or trattorias that are restaurants more accessible to everyone where you can taste good raw ham, which is basically a typical cured meat of these areas.
I hope my story was interesting, see you in my next post, I wish you a good weekend, see you soon!!

Wow, reading this post about Montagnana truly sparked my love for history and travel!
I had no idea this town was home to one of the best-preserved medieval walls in Europe — that's just incredible. The way you described the massive stone walls stretching around the city, along with the towers and historic gates, made me feel like I was walking through a time portal. It’s amazing how such places still hold onto their past with so much pride and character.
Your storytelling really brought Montagnana to life — I could almost hear the sounds of old footsteps echoing through the narrow streets. And the photos? Absolutely stunning. You captured the soul of the place so well.
