Rifugio Roda di Vaèl - Dolomites - Italy
Hello fellow travelers!!!
I hope you're well and everything is going well. I wanted to share some photos with you from my short vacation near Vigo di Fassa in Trentino-Alto Adige.
There are some truly beautiful places to visit here, especially if you love mountains and nature in general. These photos I took are of the Roda di Vael refuge. We're essentially in one of the Dolomite mountains that is part of the Catenaccio group, and this peak reaches 2,8006 meters and is easily recognizable by its triangular shape.
You know well that I prefer cities rich in architecture and history, but sometimes I also go to these places, which are very natural and beautiful, and I remember that they are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
By the way, if you have any of your newspapers, there's been a bit of a buzz in certain areas of the Dolomites these days. But as you can see from these images, if you choose the right places, overtourism doesn't exist. This refuge requires a two-hour hike, so only a few people make it here, and it's a bit of a selective process.
If you want some information about the refuge, I can tell you right away that the refuge is one of the most important and popular and is open from June to October with 59 places inside. Of course, there is also a restaurant and a bar and you can book through their website, which I leave in the description below. As I mentioned, it is a place that is used as a starting point for other, slightly more challenging excursions, including via ferratas, which are suitable only for people who are equipped and who know what they want to do.
They say this mountain is made of rock formed by ancient coral reefs because the sea once existed here—we're talking millions of years ago, of course. In my opinion, it's truly a must-see for hikers and nature lovers alike. Via ferratas also start from this refuge for those less fearful than me. But, for example, I suffer from vertigo, so I'd never be able to climb the mountain.
I hope these images were interesting. See you in my next post! See you soon!
