HOW I LOST 700,000 NAIRA IN CRYPTO

Before I left school last year, I was thinking of what to do with my life. I had some savings; the money was everything I saved throughout the 5 years I was studying in school because I was schooling and also working.

The total money was 500,000 naira and I was very happy. I graduated from school on the seventh day of August, 2024 and I went to the bank to withdraw the money from the fixed savings and then, I deposited it in an account I could spend it from.

I did a lot of research on what to do with the money and I decided to join the crypto society because it sounded so cool and it was trending.

I told my brother about it and he decided to support me with the sum of 200,000 thousand naira. I was so happy and I started learning from YouTube.

I was learning the basics. I read a lot of PDFs and I thought I was good to go. I didn't pay any mentor to mentor me. I thought I was good to go, on my own.

I decided to discuss the whole thing with my best friend who just got back in town and who was also a trader and he said he was going to help me.

He asked me why I didn't discuss the whole thing with him and I apologized. ‘It was due to the fact that you were far from me’, I said. So, we finalized everything and he started teaching me.

Long story short, I invested all my money.

Who puts all their eggs in one basket? That was me. I invested all my 700,000 naira in crypto and I lost everything, everything.

I couldn't explain what happened. Till date, I don't know what happened but my five years savings were gone in a twinkle of an eye.

I cried my eyes out the whole day, week, month and even now, I am still going through so much from that one bad decision. I'll bounce back though.

Meanwhile, I learnt a lot of lessons about learning before earning. I've learnt that it is better to learn before earning and it is better not to follow trends.
