MY VISA GOT REJECTED BECAUSE I COULDN'T COMMUNICATE PROPERLY
I want to share something personal with you all today, something that was a setback for me, but ultimately a learning experience. I feel it is important for me to share and hope it can help someone else reading this.
I want to rewind back to when I faced what I thought was a great chance to get my visa. I was obviously over the moon, I was properly suited and booted and ready for my interview. I had prepped and made sure I had everything in order, or at least I thought I did, until one thing occurred to me:
I had prepared everything, the documents, the financials, the reasons why, but I had not spent enough time practicing and preparing my communication ability.
As the interview began, I started to wobble, my mind went blank. I began to misunderstand the questions that were being asked and my answers became more and more vague and short. I didn't have the ability to answer and sell myself and my plans confidently to the interviewer.
The interview ended abruptly after about five minutes. A week later the dreaded email came: “Application Denied — Communication issues.”
This really was a crushing blow, a real setback on what I had planned and wanted to do. That being said, it taught me a lot about myself. I realized that language is more than knowing when to use there, their, and they're. It's a very powerful skill to have.
I then discovered MYLANGCOACH, a platform that is built for people in similar positions to myself.

Your point about the difference between technically knowing a language and being able to use it effectively in pressure situations like a visa interview is very valid. It is true that communication is more than just grammar.
