In the centre of the city of Uyo, is the Akwa Ibom International Stadium. The home to the Super Eagles of Nigeria. This stadium boast of a great architectural design which is shaped like a crescent and was built and officially opened in November 2014.

This stadium is built for both sports, track events and social events. It has been approved by FIFA as a standard stadium. Built with multiple exits and great entrance, the stadium has 30,000 seats capacity and also tracks for track events.

My last visit to this magnificent stadium was a football match between Nigeria's super eagles and Sao Tome and Principe. Nigeria won the game and it was frenzy. Firstly I entered the stadium with my ticket then climbed up to one of the entrances and got a nice view of the stadium. I couldn't wait before taking pictures.

Before the game began, the fans were already seated in the stadium, everywhere was jam packed with a lot of football fans. It was energetic with blares from trumpets and hits from drums. It was a wonderful atmosphere which everyone would love to be in. The noise too was deafening when the players came out for the warm-up.

Most times the tickets to watch the games in the Stadium is free, which is being subsidized by the state government of Akwa Ibom state. But the standard price for tickets into the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium is as follows

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium is located at New Stadium road obio Etoi, Uyo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom state Nigeria. The stadium is in the heart of the city and can be found from anywhere in the city.

Driving in from the airport is a 20-30 minutes drive too. It can also be accessed from the Five star hotels in Uruan which is also a 30 minutes drive.
