The Bangladesh Navy Maritime Museum in Chattogram is a remarkable and educational tourist attraction. This museum is primarily dedicated to the Bangladesh Navy and its history. This was my first visit to the museum, and I learned a great deal, which further increased my respect for the defense forces.

It is located on Naval Avenue Road in the Kazir Dewri area of Chittagong city. Being very close to the city center, it is easily reachable via public transportation. The museum's location is in a perfect area, which is not as noisy as other parts of the city. You can easily reach here by rickshaw from any corner of the city. I am pinning the address below.

As it is under the jurisdiction of the Bangladesh government, strict security is maintained in all its management. To ensure that tourists can visit at their convenience, it is open every day of the week, from Monday to Sunday. However, there is a specific time frame within which you need to explore the entire area. It is open to tourists from 4 PM to 8 PM daily, so if you want to explore the entire area thoroughly, my suggestion would be to enter during the first period.

An entry ticket is mandatory to enter the museum. It has two sections: indoor and outdoor. There is an open field and a restaurant in the outdoor area, which I will share with you in another blog. No ticket is required to visit the outdoor area. The ticket price for the indoor section of the museum is 50 BDT per person. Tickets need to be purchased from a counter outside at the entrance. The facility for online advance ticket purchase is not yet available.

The museum does not have an official website. Hopefully, they will soon create a website for tourists and arrange for online ticket booking. I couldn't find their Facebook page.

Ground Section

So, let's go inside the museum. When I entered, it was almost evening, meaning there was still some daylight outside. However, after entering, the indoor lighting gave my eyes a different kind of feeling. Once someone enters the museum, they won't be able to tell if it's day or night outside.

On the ground floor, right at the front, I had some spectacular experiences. In front was a beautiful map of Bangladesh, uniquely crafted from soil, with all the divisions and rivers of Bangladesh marked in colors. On the lower floor, I also saw several artifacts related to maritime history. I saw a large display with the names of all the oceans and some information about them.

Each floor was not very large in size but was filled to the walls with artifacts and informative displays. The indoor lighting was somewhat dim and the color resembled the water of a ocean, making the interior stand out. I also noticed some fish aquariums there. From the first floor, I learned about seaports, oceans and quite a bit of the history of the Bangladesh Navy.

Second Floor

While going up the stairs to the second floor, my eyes caught sight of fire fighting equipment and damage control equipment tools next to the stairs. I recognized almost all of them. Upon entering, I found the real jargon of maritime. The walls of the displays depicted the history of the Navy's contributions in various wartime situations.

Many types of ships are used in wars and there were replicas of many warships of the Navy. Various types of missiles, fighter ships and the equipment used by the Navy were mentioned with their names. I took my time to observe them and learned a lot.

The entire room was not just filled with warships; I also saw some unique things there. In my childhood, I used to see unique boats in the movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' where I saw several boats and equipment related to sailors.

Third Floor

Then I went to the third floor. This floor had a lot to learn. The entire room was decorated with Navy officers' badges and various areas arranged with bend, hitches. Besides, there was an introduction to the badges of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Some mannequins dressed in Navy uniforms were arranged, which I found quite fascinating.

A lot of work has been done for human resource development in the maritime sector. Information about the work related to maritime universities, marine academies, maritime technology, etc was there. From the informative displays about the chittagong seaport, which is the lifeline of Bangladesh's economy, I learned a great thing.

After thoroughly exploring the entire area, I came downstairs. I spent about two hours inside the museum, and for me it was worth the time. I learned a lot from there. The defense forces protect us and our country from enemy attacks by risking their own lives.

Therefore, I always respect and salute all the military forces of the country. Visiting such a scenic and educational place will add a new dimension to your travel experience, so don't forget to visit the Maritime Museum if you get the chance.

Thank you all, happy traveling.
