As-Salamu Alaykum (Peace Be Upon You)

I am participating this contest, Pin & Win: Map Your World on Steem Atlas - Week 20. Thank you @mohammadfaisal for organizing this beautiful contest.

Today, I want to tell you about a new fair that I recently visited. The name of the fair is Kholahati Small Cottage Industries and Trade Fair. It started a few days ago in Kholahati. This fair is quite similar to the one that was held in Saidpur city not long ago.

Opening & ClosingAround 10 AM- Midnight

The fair is located about 13 kilometers from our town, on the side of the Badarganj-Parbatipur Road in Kholahati. Compared to the Saidpur fair, this one covers an even larger area. One thing I really liked is that they have proper parking facilities for vehicles.

This signboard reveals that it is land under the Bangladesh Army and access is reserved

Before entering the fair, I noticed a signboard stating that the land belongs to the Bangladesh Army and that access is restricted. Since the fair is a large public event, I assume that entry to this area is only allowed during the fair and probably restricted at other times.

Ticket counter. Entry fee- 20 BDT or 0.16 USD or 1.25 steem

Anyway, before entering the fair, we bought tickets. Each ticket cost 20 BDT. Although there were two ticket counters on both sides of the main entrance gate, there were several more counters a little farther away from the gate.

Fair Office

An interesting thing about the ticket is that it comes with a lottery number. After visiting the fair, you need to write your name, address, and phone number on one part of the ticket and drop it into a box, while keeping the other part with you. The lottery draw takes place at midnight, and prizes include motorcycles, gold jewelry, and other items. However, participation in the lottery is optional.

Some stalls

After entering the fair, it seemed that the event hadn’t reached its full grandeur yet. There were still many empty spaces in the fairground, and I could see arrangements being made for more stalls to be set up. Since the fair had only started a few days ago, the number of stalls felt a bit low, but I believe it will increase as the days go by.

This fair also known as Hasina Nagar ShenaPolli small cottage industries and trade fair

We went to the fair in the afternoon. That day, the fair didn’t seem very crowded, probably because it was still early in the schedule. I think the crowd will increase in the coming days. Although there were many types of shops, the number of clothing stores seemed a bit low. There were more items for women available at the fair.

Fruits and food stalls

Since the stalls were scattered here and there, the arrangement looked a little unorganized. Usually, fairs have shops selling children’s toys, women’s clothes, jewelry, various homecare products, plastic goods, and traditional items. This fair was no exception, it had similar stalls.

Sugar Cake

There were also several rides available for visitors to enjoy. However, I didn’t take any rides myself. There weren’t many people on the rides either. The rides looked almost identical to the ones I saw at the fair held in Saidpur. However, the boat ride here seemed quite large in comparison.

This is a circus stage

And of course, no fair is complete without food stalls. There were plenty of street food stalls offering traditional snacks. In addition, a few restaurants were selling unique varieties of sweets. I didn’t notice much fast food like burgers or sandwiches anywhere.

Ghost house

One of the main attractions of the fair was the circus, magic shows, and the haunted house. Personally, I didn’t find these shows very high in quality. However, the stages or setups where these shows were held looked quite attractive.

Since this fair is still in its early phase, I believe it will grow bigger and more interesting in the future. I plan to cover the shops, food stalls, and rides in separate posts because sharing everything in a single post would be quite difficult and might miss out on many scenes. That was my experience on the very first day of the fair.

A scenic view at the fair

I am inviting @hamzayousafzai, @rauja apu & @ae-arfin to take part in the contest.
