RE: Treasure Find - Building Water Resiliency

in #treasurefinds6 years ago

Thats an AMAZING #treasurefind! What a score! Do you get quite dry conditions there? We use IBC 1000 litre tanks because we couldnt afford the big 20,000 tanks that we SHOULD have in a country prone to drought. When I was in my 20s we had an 8 year drought where everyone was on water rations of 150 L per household, per day... 4 minute showers (eek, I love a long shower) and everyone was installing grey water systems for their gardens. We know we will hit those conditions again, so that will be our next necessary expense! We just got solar panels so itll bea while before we can afford them..a find like this would be amazing!

Thank you! :) Yeah, it does get really dry here in the summer. Western WA is always viewed as a wet place but almost all of the rain comes in the fall/winter. Once summer comes we can go months with no rain. Last year we had no rain from May through most of September. Luckily, this year we got a little rain over the summer but still very little.

I'm excited to get these water tanks setup. I really try to limit my irrigation but hopefully these tanks will give me a sustainable option when I do need to give my plants a little water.

Thanks again!
