Random Blog on Crypto (Part 95) : Impact of AI on Education Sector (Part 02 of 06)
This is second part in this topic. In first part I have given you just the idea. Now let get full dive into the topic. Earlier, we had to learn—where is the capital of Algeria?, which country has which mountain? What is the capital city of Morocco?, Which country has Mount Kilimanjaro?, Where is the capital of Nigeria located?, Which country is home to Mount Everest?, What is the capital city of Egypt?, Which country has the Andes mountain range?, Where is the capital of Kenya situated? etc. It was necessary to keep this kind of information in mind in past. Now in AI era, it is completely unnecessary. I think in higher education in Bangladesh—especially in university exams—70% to 80% of the questions are based on memorization. Meaning: memorize lines from books → write in the exam → get good marks. Simple strategy but the worst I have ever seen. How? Let get into the logical points.
But now times have changed. Today, AI can find out the answers to these memorized questions in a second with the help of AI. So what is the need to make students memorize and write down the answers to the same questions? Are we saving time or wasting time? The exam should ask questions that even if given by AI, the student will have to use his/her own thinking power.
For example:
Which questions can measure the thinking power of students?
Which questions can help students learn to solve problems?
Which questions can test practical knowledge?
This should the concept of setting the question paper on tests. Otherwise in previous system everything will be just waste of time and money. How? Let understand it in the next part of this topic.
