A wall will not end the crisis. You can use boats as well. What are the issues? First, the purpose of the wall is to stop the drug trade. It will put a dent into it, but it will not eradicate it. Second, is the immigration. There are many people along the border who want to stop the illegal immigration because they bring in kids who then go to school and cause taxes to rise yet these people do not pay income taxes. The solution is very simple. Eliminate income taxes and compel states to survive on consumption taxes. Then it will not matter who is here, everyone will pay their fair share.

also, totally agree with legalizing drugs, it would all but wipe out the huge profit motives, dramatically reducing violence and marginalizing the cartels, and standardize dosages and quality in a way that would save many lives all around.
I agree with legalization and that it will have an effect on the power of the cartels; however, the cartels have diversified. Legalizing drugs will weaken them not destroy them. Other "trade goods" the cartels trade in are human trafficking, black market oil, and counterfeit goods.

I started watching Narcos on Netflix. The first two were pretty good, but I put it aside and haven't gone back.
The do-gooders are't going to acknowledge the consequences of their policy in the rise of the cartels, and the rent-seekers aren't going to break their own rice bowls.
We just have to keep up a steady drumbeat of the Drug War doesn't work and makes things more dangerous

I binge-watched the whole Narcos series a while back, found the whole thing rather fascinating, especially how easily he could always justify his actions and portray himself as the victim, with absolutely no regard of the consequences. Hey, sounds just like today's neo-liberal zombie lunatics + Sharia LaBarf (he seems to have achieved a class all of his own)... lol

Interesting, I like the idea. However I am not sure the completely corrupt states like MA would ever go for eliminating the state income tax when we already have the sales tax at 6.5%, they would have to jack that up to some crazy 25% or something to pay for all the greed and corruption they got going on in MA. Then if you jack the sales taxes up that high everyone will just buy stuff in a neighboring state like NH where there is no "consumption" aka sales taxes. Just saying.
