RE: Game of Throne Season 8 is Coming and a Prequal Show

in #tv7 years ago

I'm actually very looking forward to the prequel show. I quite like when these shows with such depth in terms of the lore are given chances to further expand upon it. Here's to hoping the LotR show Amazon is working on is good!

I'm also looking forward to the prequal show and happy that Martin is working on it as well. But I'm also a book person, I read all of the song of ice and fire and all the stories of Knight of the Seven Kingdom. I really want book 6 to come out already.
I really liked the Peter Jackson movies so I am not sure how I feel about the LOTR tv show on Amazon. It could be really good and it could be a disaster like the Hobbit movies, but I will definitely watch it. I am hoping and dreding that soon someone will adapt the Silmarillion, my favorite book by Tolkien.

I'm a huge fan of the GoT books. I refuse to watch the series until the last book has been released (though none of us may live that long). I might watch the prequel series though.

I liked the Lord of the Rings movies though between The Hobbit and those they really did the opposite of what they should have to tell the story. Each of the LOTR books should have probably been two parts (especially the last book) while there was absolutely no reason to stretch The Hobbit out into more than one movie, much less three. The fact that the scouring of the Shire was left out of the LOTR movies is inexcusable as it was an incredibly important part of the story (at least in my opinion). I though they did a good enough job with the Hobbit, it just would have been much better compacted into one movie and sticking with the material actually in The Hobbit.

I hadn't heard about the LOTR series but there's a lot of spectacular things on TV these days, particularly Amazon and Netflix originals. It certainly COULD be good.

I think a great adaptation of The Silmarillion (a series or multiple movies I imagine) could certainly be made and I'm surprised they haven't started such a project yet. I suppose it would take a bit more work to adapt than LotR and The Hobbit...

You have strong will not to watch the show. I don't think the finale book will ever see the light of day even after we're dead.

When LOTR came out it was not acceptable to split movies into two parts. I understand your frustrations and the choice of the movie. It was long enough as it is with so many endings.

Now that Tolkien's son is no longer head of the estate we might see some interesting adaptations.

I think there will be one more GoT book but I'm not confident in the last one either. I hope he'll surprise us with both being ready to go at the same time or at least with hard release dates announced for both at the same time because it's close enough... I can dream.

Now you're definitely dreaming. But he does have part 1 of Fire and Blood coming out soon.
