$12,000 wouldn't be enough to pull people out of poverty because that money would be gobbled up by higher economic rents (which is what my post was about).

Everyone has a different idea about how much a UBI should be. I've met people who said that it should be $40K because that would be enough for them to be able to quit their jobs. It's pie in the sky, as a quick calculation will show that the taxes would be infeasibly high.

Even if UBI money weren't sucked up by those with economic privileges, $3K is all we could afford.

If ending poverty is your goal, however, you really should look at that video I linked to.
