"Again&Again" Awakenings

Today I wanted to write for this contest that is running by @sergeyk , here is the link if you are also interested:
There are some movies that I like to watch again and again and one of them I wanted to present you today is American drama called “Awakenings”
When I watch it first time the name made me very curious, because it was something that did not even reveal what is what. When I looked into the actors who played there I saw names of two my favourite and also great Artists with a big letter “A”, Robert de Niro and Robin Williams.
So, let’s start from beginning what is the movie about?
It is about a doctor called Malcolm Sayer who is working in one of hospitals in Bronx, the doctor is played by Robin Williams, he was working with patients who were in catatonic state after been ill with encephalitis lethargica, or this is a condition that is affecting brain and patients turn into statue like condition without any movement, like they were frozen.
Dr. Sayer had few patients one of them was Leonard, he noticed that even though there is no reaction from him but still that he is able to understand inside it is like inner person still alive.
One day Dr. Sayer is attending a lecture about medication for treatment of Parkinson “L-DOPA” and after that has a thought that this could be helpful for his patients and he decided to try it on Leonard.
Few days later Leonard starts to show lively signs of live, he is looking around, moving and answering although slowly but it reaches its peak. Dr. Sayers is excited and then tried the medication on others, they all slowly awaken and become their normal themselves.
Dr. Sayers then tried to find the funding for treatment but due to the fact that the patients after coming back to their normal, then returning again in their catatonic state, the funding never took place.
It is a sad movie, while seeing how the people are when they are themselves and how they then again loosing this connection to live made me very sad and that was every time I watched it.
