I will take you on a journey into my past and we will visit many places in Greece together. I lived in Greece for 16 years until the end of 2020 and was able to take many beautiful pictures there.

I will always attempt to post the exact Google Map link to where the picture taken. This way, you can also see on the map page exactly where we were when the picture taken.

It looks like I will be lucky enough to live in Greece again in May. Then I will also publish current pictures.

I hope you enjoy the journey through Greece, where I will gladly take you along a bit every day.

A carefree childhood

I had already written once that my son already had all the freedom as a child to decide for himself which path he would take. Of course, you influence a 6-7-8 ... year old by your actions, you can't avoid that. He did start school and spent a few months a year at school in Germany—but only up to the fourth grade. We never had any problems with the German school authorities. We always told the headmistress that we were travelling abroad for an indefinite period. That was it, actually there is compulsory schooling in Germany, but we were more or less overlooked :)

I think until our son was 15-16 years old, he felt very comfortable on our trips and also in Greece. But then maybe he missed being socially integrated with his peers. In retrospect, of course, you ask yourself if you did the right thing letting him grow up like that. However, I think many parents will ask themselves that. He's a clever little guy and even though he basically never went to school, he does his A-levels and then goes to university. But he only does that to be able to act in an environment. He doesn't need the education. He could immediately start working for a company in the field of computer science or as a freelance programmer for €50 an hour and more. However, he wants to avoid doing that, and I didn't talk him into it before, so I'm certainly not going to start today. Although I don't understand it :)

Here are some pictures from 2016, when he was 6 years old. I think he felt really comfortable there. At that age, he always had a lot of contact with Greek children and of course also with children of holidaymakers. He enjoyed the many excursions and tours, and what could be better than having the warm sea with a great beach 10 meters from your front door for months on end.

The good thing about the blockchain is that all data is preserved as long as the chain exists. So let's hope that it will be around for a long time to come. Because the whole thing is also a small legacy from me, and I think that my son will be able to bring one or two memories back to life when he reaches my age so that he can think back to his dad :)

as you can see, we did everything together back then :)
