USDT and USDC

Last week, I met up with an old friend and learned some new concepts from her — like the difference between USDC and USDT.

At first, I just thought it was an interesting idea, like trading currencies but in the crypto world.
Then yesterday, it suddenly hit me: I could totally use the P2P market to exchange RMB into USDT and transfer it out! I got really excited and tried it out — sure enough, Binance has markets for buying and selling USDT.

It looked promising, but sadly, in Singapore Binance doesn’t allow RMB trading.
So there’s still regulation in place. But I’m pretty sure there’s got to be a solution somewhere.

Stablecoins are really fascinating — they feel like “digital dollars.” The best part is that Coinbase offers more than 4% interest on USDC. That easily beats any bank!

And one more real benefit: yesterday I sold some ETH. Normally, I’d just blindly swap into SGD, but every time the fees made me feel like the platform was ripping me off.
This time, I got a bit smarter — I converted ETH into USDC first, and then cashed it out. I didn’t record the exact numbers, but it really felt like I saved on fees. Haha!

If I remember correctly, Binance doesn't support Singapore since few years ago. Had to move things out then.

Yup. But Binance is one of the middlemen if you want to do RMB transfers.
