RE: Does Anyone Believe the Bursima Deal WASNT Corrupt?

in #uselection6 years ago (edited)

The corrupt Ukrainian prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko (who spent two and a half years in prison after being convicted of embezzlement and abuse of office) was not investigating Hunter Biden at the time that European governments and the United States were pressuring the Ukrainian government to fight corruption. If anything, Joe Biden’s actions made it more likely that the Ukrainians would go after his son.

So, yes, Gaetz’s smear was a lie to benefit Trump.

It doesn't even matter what the Ukranian prosecutor was doing.

Why was some 20-something kid with no relevant experience (who just happens to be the son of the VP of the US in charge of dealing with this country as a whole) hired to be on the board of this huge company and being paid a million bucks a year?

Prima facie, it's incredibly suspicious and worth investigating.

Sure it does. It’s all about intent.

Prima facie, it's incredibly suspicious and worth investigating.

Maybe on some level it is, but it’s incredibly suspicious that such an investigation would just happen to benefit Trump personally in a re-election campaign. Has Trump (or any other President) ever asked foreign governments to investigate any other American for corruption?

The FBI investigates corruption all the time. Why suddenly now try to pressure a foreign government to investigate an American citizen?

There was definitely a political calculation involved, but that's not my point here.

My point is that it wasn't a smear, or at least an inaccurate smear.
