Venezuelan National Guard has blocked the three-lane bridge
The decision of Venezuela to prevent the entry of humanitarian assistance from neighboring Colombia came to light on Wednesday when the military placed maritime cargo containers and a tanker on the bridge by which food and medicine should arrive in the country.
Since Tuesday, the Venezuelan National Guard has blocked the three-lane bridge that links it with Colombia, and on Wednesday there have been reports that the military is actively patrolling the area to prevent the entry of humanitarian assistance.
The interim president of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, is trying to bring food and medicine to the country against the will of Nicolás Maduro. Maduro insists that the humanitarian effort, which has the backing of the United States, Colombia and other countries, is part of an invasion aimed at overthrowing it.
